Well we all know that the lovely 8-40 screw dillema on the encores. I had two thoughts for the forearm.

1. could you put the forearm on a mill and open it up a tad to enable the floating?

2. With the washer trick in mind and the screws being to short; could we just drill the forearm screw hole a tad deeper?

No problem, I've been doing that for years. When you open up the chanel you have to leave the area around the screw hole alone but you can open up inbetween the holes and out front. I think most problems are caused by the area out front anyway. KN

posted this another place but here goes again, just geta 10-32 bottom tap and drill out the current 8-40 threads and then tap for the new larger size then go to hardware store get box end allwn scres in a two inch length use hack saw and sanding station or grinder to shorten to correct length counting washers for free floating, then poof there you go free floated and stronger then ever and guess what your holes are not deeper but slightly very slightly larger and my accuracy is great 300 win mage 26 inch heavy best group at 100 yards what group .433 goto love that

Ditto to RANDY's sugestion. I had to do this to a 45/70 carbine barrel with a composite forearm. The recoil bent the screws causing the moulded pillars to split. That was the end of that forearm. KN
