Oy, s'what happens when you try to upset the useless eaters' (...the politicobureaucrats) gravy train.
They'd have gotten off with a shorter sentence if they'd just gone and killed someone.

The really ironic thing about this is there is no law on the books that makes a provision for personal income tax at the federal level only the IRS Code which is NOT LAW and was not written by congress but rather by an administrative agency.

In spite of this judges continue to find folks guilty for non payment of a tax for which there is no legal basis for its existence. Yeah I'll keep paying in spite of knowing it's illegal cuz I know the outcome if I don't. So did this couple.

That is what makes this couple special! They knew they would go to prison for defending their rights, and did it anyway.Takes a big pair to go against the odds these folks faced.

I hope I can do as well, when they, "and they will" come to take my guns.

What on earth were they trying to prove? They could not have seriously believed that they might be able to get away with tax evasion. Federal tax evasion is one of he most serious crimes there is. There's a virtual guarantee of going to prison for it.

...and that very fear is what keeps nearly all the rest of us paying up and keeping our mouths shut, regardless of
what we really believe.

Amendment 16 - Status of Income Tax Clarified. Ratified 2/3/1913.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Ok, now you need to read the Brushaber vs Union Pacific Railroad and Stanton vs Baltic Mining cases very carefully.  Also, Polluck vs Farmers in 1895.

As to the 16'th, define "Congress", "Income", "Source".  There's more to it than what meets the eye.
