7.62 Nagant handloads: information please
« on: July 13, 2009, 01:19:13 AM »
I am looking for a good load using 32-20 brass resized in Lee dies for the 7.62 Nagant and cast bullets.
Don't find much in manuals.

Just got an email from a friend.  He is getting fantastic results out to 100 yards with 777 under a 120gr bullet in his Swedish Nagant.

I hate to dampen your spirit but I don't believe there are any "good loads using 32/20 brass". The chambers are throated to accept the case longer than the cylinder and with the shorter 32/20 brass you have a .312" bullet rattling through a chamber throat of at least .334" and one just cannot expect accuracy from that combination.
The 7.5 Swedish Nagant is entirely different since it uses a conventional case with an outside lubricated bullet of full chamber diameter.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Johnny that should be a good load; it's more unique than I use in my 38/357 cowboy loads with a 15ograin bullet. :)
Coyote, I don't expect to do more than plink or maybe some cowboy stuff, so I think reloads should be better than 32 S&Ws or the 32H&RMags I have been shooting. Thanks though for you comment. :(
Sir Charles, I guess Swedes are different from Russians, I hadn't thought of a bullet thatheavy. :-X

I dont think of 7.62 Nagant as a target pistol but its fun to shoot and cheep with 32-20 brass. When i take it to the range my frends and family will go through 100 rounds, and they hit the bowling pin most of the time.  At $119 its a great pistol and a fun shooter.  John
