Sotomayor
« on: July 13, 2009, 03:49:58 PM »

> Monday, July 13, 2009
>
> Today, the U.S. Senate commences hearings on Justice Sonia Sotomayor,
> who was nominated by President Obama to replace the retiring Judge
> David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court.
>
> In many ways, Sotomayor's views are out-of-step with our American
> heritage and with the views of Americans in general.  For example,
> Sotomayor believes that our fundamental law is constantly evolving and
> that rights are constantly changing with the times.
>
> But should we be surprised?  The President who nominated her holds some
> of the most radical views ever held by a resident of the White House.
> His take on the Constitution -- and the Second Amendment in particular
> -- has stationed him to the far left on the political spectrum.
>
> Consider just a small snapshot of his record over the years:
>
> * As President, Obama has nationalized much of the car and banking
> industry and is now looking to do the same with health care.  Even the
> Marxist President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, joked on live television
> last month that he and Fidel Castro need to be careful or else "we
> are going to end up to [Obama's] right."
>
> * As a U.S. Senator, Obama was ranked by the National Journal in 2007
> as the most liberal legislator in that chamber.  Realize that such a
> ranking put Obama to the left of 99 other Senators -- including an
> open, self-avowed socialist, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
>
> * Like many socialists, Obama has supported some of the most extreme
> positions on gun control:  supporting a ban on handguns, opposing the
> repeal of the draconian DC gun ban, opposing the right of self-defense
> for residents in the Chicago suburbs, and much more.
>
> Obama's brand of far-left politics sees the Constitution as moldable as
> a ball of wax.  In a 2001 interview, he criticized earlier Supreme
> Courts for "never ventur[ing] into the issues of redistribution of
> wealth....  It didn't break free from the essential constraints that
> were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution."
>
> Sotomayor appears to have the same view of our highest document, as she
> stated in 1996 that law is not "static and predictable," but
> "constantly overhaul[ed] and adapt[ed] [by lawyers and courts] to
> the realities of ever-changing social, industrial and political
> conditions."
>
> ACTION:  Please urge your two Senators to vote AGAINST the Sotomayor
> nomination.  Tell them to cast a pro-gun vote on EVERY vote related to
> Judge Sonia Sotomayor (whether it's a vote on sustaining a filibuster
> or a vote on final passage).

> Sotomayor believes that our fundamental law is constantly evolving and

> Americans disagree.  Multiple polls have found that almost
> three-fourths of all Americans believe that the Second Amendment of the

> guns.  Not so for Judge Sotomayor:
>
> * She ruled in United States v. Sanchez-Villar (2004) that "the
> right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right."
>
> * And earlier this year, Sotomayor was part of a three-judge panel
> which ruled in Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not

I heard a few soundbites of the hearings and threw up in my mouth. Amy Klobuchar and the rest of the senators are all praising her(?) for the great job she's done! I thought the senate hearings were supposed to be like a job interview? This seat on the supreme court is for LIFE!!!!

For those that don't know- minnesota's other senator is amy klobuchar, the daughter of a popular writer for the minneapolis star and tribune- Jim Klobuchar. She got elected on name recognition alone, her political views are as far apart from her fathers as sourdough and questors.

She is only another piece of the Obama puzzle that will bring the total destruction of the United States of America as we once knew it.
There goes our Constitution that our founding Father's wrote that would protect all of our GOD given rights.
Kiss them all goodbye. Along with our guns, our religious rights, our right to speak out freely and our privacy.

How true you are. I am an Organizer in a Organization, the 9-12 Delaware Patriots http://912delawarepatriots.com/  .  We are getting the word out and getting people educated and getting them to wake up. We hold bi-monthly meetings in one of three counties in Delaware, and started a second chapter last night in another of the 3 counties here in Delaware. What we find is, people are so uninformed and just have not cared, until it becomes an issue for them personally. We have had several rallies in front of legislative hall, and several during legislation secessions. We have become to be a thorn in the side of these legislators here in Delaware and they know we are watching them and reporting back to there constituents.
We confront them at town hall meetings. What needs to happen is, everyone need to get involved in what is going on here in America.

You are 100% correct, WAKE  UP  AMERICA!!!!!

I don't want her in office any more than the rest of you.  Last night I wrote letters to both of my Senators expressing my views.  It may not mean much but at least I let my thoughts be known and that's all anyone can do.  Unfortunately that's MORE than most people do.  Few things irritate me more than apathy. >:(

I don't know much about politics & less about law, but what does the judicial system call it when a bunch of marketers all set the same price for their product, or control the distribution in some similar way?  Is that a monopoly or am I thinking of "price fixing"?  What is it?

Why isn't it illegal when the party "bosses" tell congressmen they all have to vote their way (and they do)?   It's not just coincidence that most of the rupublican rats all vote against all the democratic rats, and vice-versa now is it?

Is there not one lawyer out there who is not afraid to tell us how to remove from office a politician who swears to uphold the laws of the country and the constitution, then tries to dismantle the constitution & doesn't pay his taxes?  Or are all our lawyers in bed with the congressmen.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Her stance on the 2nd Amendement was telling; she agrees with the recent SC  decision that it is an individual right, but does not believe it is a fundamental right and therefore the Fed cannot force the states to take a particular position.

That's great if you live in Montana or Oklahoma. But if you live in a gun grabbing state, that means she'd be in favor of your state (not the fed) restricting and taxing your individual right until while technically you could, practically you could not.

The reason people are apathetic is because no matter what we say it does not ever seem to matter.
Corrupt politicians, rule of money (cost of getting elected), rigged elections, interference by the courts, a controlled press (toe the line or you are fired),  racist minority voting blocs.... the list goes on and on.... have just about killed democracy.

The hearings are nothing but a farce anyway, she was told on the first day that she is in unless she has a major melt-down, she doesn't have to answer any question with a real answer.

There is no doubt that Sotomayor is an anti-gunner and a threat to our 2nd amendment rights.  BTW:  If Big Daddy Bush had not appointed her a federal judge no one would have ever heard of her.

Sen. Coburn from Oklahoma got her to answer a question. He asked , if  people had the right to self defense, and she stated.......She equated it with being a vigilante.

Most of the cowards representing us will never ask her the important questions and hold her feet to the fire.

Thats the crux of it, we all know from where she comes, Duhhh!! how in Haites do you think she got the nomination ! Slick willie would have appointed her, had  he the chance! Just know that she means you no good will if you are a gun owning white man!

Whos gonna be shocked and amazed when she makes her first decision on the high court!

All this was so clear to me before the election why are so many so ignorant?
“Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.”
