CVA Accura Guarantee
« on: July 16, 2009, 05:43:29 PM »
Did you guys know that CVA guarantees the Accura to be the most accurate break open ML or your money back? That's a pretty good guarantee if i understood that right. I'm sure they were comparing that to the Encore. I would like to see how they do against a Knight Vision. Or even a Triumph.

With their $150 CVA Wolf, 80 gr. of 777 FFg, 250 gr. Hornady SST or TC Shockwave in black sabots,
Nikon 1.5-5x38 Omega Slughunter scope, off sand bags at the range, i get one big 1.5"-2" hole on target at 100 yards from 5 shots. I clean with one wet patch and one dry patch between shots. I wet the patches with tobacco spit, Windex, or water, whatever is convenient at the time. The first shot, after cleaning the oil in the barrel with two dry patches, is dead on into the 1.5" orange sticker on the target. I practically found the preferred load and bullet, and sighted in the rifle in less than 1 hour. I also helped set up and develop a load for a CVA Optima. Slightly better results.

To put things into perspective, it took way longer than that to the guy next to me on the range to fiddle with his Ruger (or Browning) bolt action in 300 WinMag. He had 4 different kinds of ammo. By the time he left his best groups were still 2-3".

If they say that Accuras are accurate, i believe them, and if anyone tells me that CVAs are not good products, i ignore them. I examined the barrel on my Wolf with a fancy borescope, and i can tell you that the bore and rifling are smoother and have a much finer finish and polish than the next rifle i looked at, a Remington 700 of sorts. The rod supplied with the Wolf was of poor quality, but their customer service sent me a replacement. I use a fiberglass rod at the range anyway.

I did look carefully at the TC Triumph and i wanted to buy one. The stock did not fit me and was, in my opinion, poorly designed. I just could not get my head low enough to see the sights, and i had to shrug to get myself to see the scope mounted on one. I initially thought that the hand removable breech plug was an advantage. Since i have the CVA Wolf i realized that a hand removable breech plug is of no consequence whatsoever.

If they made their Apex rig with a nice wood stock, i would buy a .50/.22LR/.223/30-06 set in a heartbeat.

By the way, the Wolf was the very first muzzleloader that i ever fired or purchased. I am happy enough that it may well be the last.

I agree on the Wolf. I have one and love it! Awesome little rifle for the money. As far as CVA blowing up in your face, any rifle not properly used will cause you problems. I know RW slams CVA something bad but next time you see him on a forum ask him about the Savage rifles that blow up in your face and see what he says. I love my CVA and my brother in law loves his also. He has the CVA Kodiak.
Have a good day and be safe out there.

I love my Accura. Once you pull the trigger, you're hooked.  The Accura competed with the Triump, not the encore.  The CVA Apex is what they came out with to put the encore to rest.  I'd like an Apex but.... I just dont shoot centerfire anymore. They do come with a muzzy barrel but no open sights, its strictly for scope.

This ad "guarantee" expires on September 1, 2009. You have 18 days from purchase to return return it.

Here are a couple quotes from the ad in my August NRA American Hunter. They leave out the details.

ACCURACY GUARANTEED OR YOUR MONEY BACK!

CVA's newest muzzleloader isn't called the ACCURA™ for nothing. As the name implies, the ACCURA is one VERY accurate muzzleloader. So accurate in fact, the CVA guarantees it will outshoot any break-action muzzleloader you've ever shot - OR YOUR MONEY BACK.

Ever heard another muzzloading company make an offer like this? No, you haven't. That's because none of their guns come with a premium Bergara Barrel™ as standard equipment. And no other production barrel will outshoot a Bergara Barrel.

Our ACCURA guarantee is simple. Just buy an ACCURA between now and September 1, 2009 and test fire it for up to 18 days. If your new ACCURA doesn't produce the tightest groups you've ever shot with a break-action muzzleloader, we'll give you a full refund. No questions asked!

ACCURA. The name says it all. And at CVA, we stand behind ours.

Visit cva.com/accura for offer details and to see all of the new ACCURA models. Or just visit a CVA dealer near you.

This is what is says on the CVA website, sans the "No questions asked!" It does have the other details not mentioned above.

Yes I read all that, but I guess it’s a person opinion as to what is accurate and not.

Exactly! They must need some more money to get the Apex going.  ;D
