Movie/Gun Question
« on: September 26, 2003, 01:56:08 AM »
I was watching the western channel the other night and saw an Italian Western with Yul Brenner called Adios Sabata (It think that was the title, it was something Sabata)  Anyway, he was shooting a cut down lever action ala Mares leg, but it had a horizontal clip that contained the cartridges.  It appeared to be brass framed like a 66 winchester.  Does anyone know what this was?  I know the Italian westerns were famous for their historical accuracy, but I didn't think they would invent something for the movie, especially considering the budgets then.  Any ideas?

Well, I saw the same show, But I have never seen a gun like that one. I wouldn't mind having the gun, although I really don't think he would be shooting 300 + yards with it and show any accuracy   JMO

well i did not see tha movie--but i'm wondering why ya doubt that he could shoot it 300 yds. accuratly---why i've seen lash la rue shoot men offin mountain tops farther than that--and ol roy could shoot the gun outta the hand of a man three blocks down and around a corner--seen it a bunch-so i know it's true.
maybe this is a good reason not to model our thinking after hollywood.

I have seen the movie and it is a stembridge modified italian replica 66
When Stembridge closed a few years back you probably could have bought the rifle. though with the receiver with a hole all the way through it for the gatling magazine you probably wouldn't want to fired full house loads in it, in the movies it only had to pop the caps on blanks and they don't have a whole lotta recoil.

Thanks for the answer Roy.  I thought it looked like a 66.
