Favorite movie monster?
« on: July 17, 2009, 04:27:24 PM »
I've always had a warm spot in the cockles of my heart for Dracula. Who, or what, is your favorite movie monster. (Keep it fictional, no politicians allowed, please.)

The wolf man get's honorable mention because he inspired me to grow a beard. I never had thick enough hirsutulous draperies to completely cover my face from forehead to adam's apple, but it's been satisfactory.

I'm not into much of that type of stuff, and really have no "favorite", BUT:
I love the old Abbott & Costello movie where they meet Dracula and the Wolfman. Now that's a classic!

I liked Boris Karloff as the MUMMY!  Lon Chaney did a pretty good Wolfman also.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Don't forget FRANKENSTINE and also the GILLMAN in THE CREATHER FROM THE BLACK LEGOON!

newer stuff:
PUMPKIN HEAD

The special effects on some of the newer versions of WEREWOLVES are pretty dramatic also!

Predator.

An alien species that are the ultimate trophy hunters, is just cool.

'Sulley'  from Monsters Inc.   ;D

Just kidding.

Used to love the Creature from the black Lagoon and Godzilla when I was a kid.

Favorite modern day monster is either Alien or Predator.

Two from "Plan Nine from Outer Space", the wrestler Tor Johnson as the reanimated detective, and Vampira, with her 12 inch waist.
More to the point of monster, the  Frankenstein's monstor in the 1931 version, played by Boris Karloff.

I would have to say the most scary thing I ever saw on the big screen was Katherine Hepburn. ;D

Just Kidding! I guess old Wolfie would prob. head the list.

Not a monster, but I do remember a scary movie called Black Sabbath. It was a few short scary stories, with Boris Karloff serving the role of the MC who introduced each of them, kind of like Alfred Hitchcock did with his mysteries. That movie scared the crap out of me, I was about 10 at the time. Today I'd probably wonder what was so scary and think it was corny, but at the time it was the scariest thing I had ever seen. We had these Saturday matinees at a theater that accepted six RC Cola bottle caps as the price of admission. About 1967, I guess.

although i am a big alien fan ( i have all nine movies, yes there are 9 ) it has to be the Predator ..

Predator, an 8 foot tall, invisible, technology driven hunter that travel the universe and "collects" other species ...
com' on, how ya gonna beat that ?

I haven't seen Predator, but from your description, it sounds too much like my boss. I don't think I'd enjoy it. Just too realistic for me.
