Inexpensive Scope for Bolt Action

I realize that you generally get what you pay for when it comes to shooting optics, but is there a typical deer rifle scope ( 3 x 9 x 40) out there in the $50-$100 range that is reliable?  It would be mounted on a Rem Mod 7 in 7mm-08.  Thanks for any advice. :?:

smoky,

I saw this site posted todat and I think it offers some excellent information.  Read it all and Heed the advice given.  If you have a $60-100 gun, then spend that much on a scope!

NO.

There is no brand new scope out there that is reliable for $50 to $100 for use on a centerfire rifle (at least none that I would recommend.)

Start saving more money to get a decent scope.  When you get in the $150 range, you can get something "reliable."  It won't be fantastic, but it will at least be "reliable."

You can get an Elite 3200 3x-9x-40mm for about $150.  You could get one of Bushnell's Trophy scopes, which is less expensive, but for a few more dollars, the Elite 3200 is really a best buy!

Zachary,
The first scope I bought was on E-Bay.......one of those Simmons Blazer 3-9x40's.  When it arrived, I returned it and requested my money back..  Can't say how or bad it might have been, but I didn't think it was worth the chance on a hunt.

Short answer is no, smoky. Zachary, how do you make those 40-point letters? Is that a moderator perk?  :)

For that much $$, I'd start looking for used Burrises and work up.

Cheers!

Redial,

No, it's not a moderator perk.  Actually, when you start typing your post in the box, you will notice the icons on top of the box.  Such icons include: B for bold, i for italics, u for underline, etc.  There is a box called Font size and it is defaulted for Normal.  If you hit the down arrow key next to it, a list of font sizes come up.

Kinda like this:

This is HUGE.
This is Tiny.
This is red.
This is blue.

It's really kinda fun. :)   More fun than the older software, don't ya think?
 :-D    :)  :-D

Yer plum colorful Zachary.  :)

Yup this software does have a LOT of perks to offer for sure.

On the subject of this thread. I personally never recommend any scope lower than the Bushnell Trophy as that's the lowest line I've had enough experience with to speak with knowledge of. They are good solid scopes and I am confident one will hold up on most non magnum deer rifles IF properly mounted. Improperly mounted I will not promise you any scope will hold up.

I also made arrangements to get a variety of Bushnell scopes from the lower lines for testing next year so I will then have some personal experience with a variety of them to be able to speak from experience in regard them when folks ask.
