I have the XL7 in 270 and it shoots 3/4" so I expect the same for my 7-08. If it does, 243 is next..........They are better rifles than the Stevens 200 or Mossberg ATR and cost just $300. Very good Savage type trigger though not the same.......

Marlin ... the XL7 line are the long action calibers and the XS7 line are short action calibers.

Shot my Marlin 7-08 Friday off hood of my truck in a 20 mph wind. First 2 rounds were  1/2", 3rd round opened it to 1 1/4". I believe it will do 3/4" or less off a bench on a calmer day with more rounds through barrel. Was using Remington 140 grain Core Lokts..............Going to be as good as my 270 if not better....

From what I have read on other forums , these rifles performance has been very good in all Calipiers

Well the 7/08 seem to be going out of the dealers to customers the last little while . I have ordered one myself and should have it within the next two weeks .
There isn't much said about loading , which should change after a season of use .
I plan on starting out with hornady 139 gr and nolser 140 partitions over a case of H4350.
Would every one share there loads ?

Happy trails

Well, the 25-06 didn't shoot as well as my 7-08 and 270 did right off, but after an hour of shooting, got it down to just over an inch. Need to reload some more rounds and get a box or 2 of factory loads and keep shooting it....................meanwhile, my new Savage 243 did  very well, 1/2" groups with Winchester Ballistic Tips..................

pshooter

If you have a scope on it, check all the screws in the mounts and rings to make sure they are tight.

If they are tight, mount a different scope and try again.

If it still thinks it is a shotgun, try free floating the barrel.

My XL7 '06 didn't scatter them all over, but floating the barrel has it shooting sub minute groups with all loads I have tried in it.

I rode with him,---------I got no complaints. ---------Cowpox
