Paracolt? Para ordnance frame with Colt Slide... Any info?
« on: July 20, 2009, 04:42:37 PM »
I have the opportunity to trade into a cherry Paracolt...  A Para ordnance P14 Frame with a Colt Gold cup Stainless slide and barrel that has been converted to series 70 configuration.  It is a very nice frame to slide fit and the owner tells me it is a great shooter with no hiccups.  Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?  I like the prospect of the Para hi cap, and the gold cup match barrel and slide.  Anybody have anything like this?  If you have and you can post some pics, I would appreciate it and the info. :)

I have a couple of parts guns myself. Properly done, they serve just fine. Wouldn't hurt to have it checked out by a gunsmith or a trusted friend that is knowledgeable of 1911s. Sometimes these hybrids have issues due to poor smithing that might elude someone with less familiarity with the platform. General rule: I stay away from pistols that have been home smithed or have major modifications. The one you're looking at may be a real jewel, but I'd check it out to be sure.
Good Luck!
