Should I buy.
what should I look for?
How much is it worth, if anything ?

That's interesting, i can't tell from those pics if it is original or a reproduction. One thing I wonder about is that the trunnions are placed very far back so I think the tube would be muzzle-heavy, which means it is someone's not-too-accurate reproduction.

I can't see any cascabel on the breech-what's the breech look like?

All military tubes of that era and later had many markings, look for those, if none, you should worry. Look down bore with good maglight on 'spot' focus-most reproductions can be detected by looking down the bore as that is the place repro-makers don't worry about too much.

If it is an origiinal military tube from any country's army, it would be worth probably at least a few thousand dollars here in the US, and probably more.

Also the trunnions look undersize for the bore. Depends on the price. Looks like a display piece, not a shooter. Scrap value--$0.25 per pound, probably 800 lbs if not sheet metal.

Breech ca 310mm dia

Well from the second set of photos with the rust flaking off I think we can rule out reproduction,

it looks like the casabile knob is buried under the chunk of rock at rear, the protrusion at rear looks

like it is for a sight, very interesting muzzel with sight base of sorts molded into it, not sure country

of orgin very plain tube.

I would add in it's present condition I doubt you would want to shoot it.

Thanks for the better pix it looks real to me now. Has a dispart sight. The corrosion on it tells me it is fairly old, probably mid-19th C. I don't recognize the model at all-where are you, Sweden?

This is quite a big gun, 90 inches long! I guess cascabel is down in the dirt and not visible to me.

The size and condition are problems if you wanted to sell it in the USA, I dont' think I'd be tempted because shipping would be horrendous. You could probably shoot blanks with it safely if it passed inspection, but I wouldn't want to shoot projectiles out of any old cast iron gun without a steel sleeve.

could be a swedish finspong gun , it looks modern in style but it still have under center trunnions
this is not into my field of interest with cast iron guns so I cant tell you
my guess is finspong 1800 - 1850
but if you can get it chep I would say BUY IT

canon is 230-240cm long. =90 inches, 7.5 feet
Breech ca 310mm dia = 12.01 inch
caliber ca 150mm = 5.9 inch
Trunnions are ca 105mm dia. = 4.1 inch

That's a good find Oyvind, it is an interesting looking 19th century gun, and if the person that owns it is leaving it in this state, then maybe he/she would be willing to sell it for a song; good luck.

that would be the the best "rookie" score i know of . i think that castabel is broke off. but i dont think they were still casting any flat castables at that date . the touch hole ...if that is what it looks like to me .

with that front sight cant imagine a sight that would accomadate that ramp front sight .

i really dont have any real idea , just a friggin wild as$ed guess .

the rock and angle didnt line up for me .

and if the ball gets rolling i'll donate a bit more

it is a A 24 PDR fortress cannon.
the reason for wrong measure was conical start at barrel.

To me, it looks Norwegian. It looks like bokmal, the leading language in eastern Norway, which Dan may understand because of Sweden's proximity. Western speaks a different dialect. We'll have to wait for Dan. This should be interesting.
