How do we know when we're in the last two years of life?

Under the current versions of both healthcare reform bills (I should say all three), access to lifesaving treatment will be denied to people who, as defined by algorithm, are in the last two years of life (under consideration, most "heroic" care will be denied to those after the age of 55).

Basically, they'll provide you grief counseling and hospice care, that's it.

Problem is, by definition, 50% of the data producing the actuarial tables come from folks living longer than two years.

For a little reference, my father in law had his first heart attack at 39, his second at 55.  He is now 70.  Though quite ill now, and on oxygen, I cannot image the life of my children without their Dee Da.  Under Obama's horrific future world, he'd have been dead 15 years ago, and ALL of my kids would have been denied a great life experience of the love of a grandfather.

TM7, to the supposed benefit of the "tax payer", but, empowering any entity with a projected budget of over 3 Trillion dollars, and the ability to decide who lives and dies, will most certainly deteriorate, eventually, to the benefit of the State (those empowered) through the State denying healthcare, thus life, to the enemies of the State.

A Skarkeism, "Beware any institution that spends 3 Trillion dollars".  The power that that kind of money can buy is incomprehendable, and incomprehensible!!!!!"

One way to make sure they don't screw up the health care system and send the old off to die, is to make the senators, congressmen, supreme court judges, and all the other 'special people' get exactly the same coverage we would get. No special health plan for big shots, retired legislators, and their spouses. Just give them a spot in line with all the rest of us. Take a number, grab a chair and wait. Maybe they can brush up on their Spanish while reading the posters on the waiting room walls.

While we're at it, maybe we should do away with their special retirement system too. Social Security should be good enough for the 'public servants', if it's good enough for the public.

What does China do ???  That is probably where we should be looking since they are footing the bill now.

Our economic status is insolvent and just wondering if anyone remembers what this means.  Not wanting to be a smart a$$ but when I was growing up in the dark ages if you spent more than you made you got deeper in debt.  Has this changed ???

Socialized medicine will only increase our debt to China and decrease our personal medical care.  This is exactly some of the change we were promised.

I've been saying this since these HC discussions started! Not trying to take thunder but it is a no brainer!

If they dont want it then they can stick it where they sit! This should be the entire country's slogan and battle cry as far as I'm concerned! Sign up for it or make one you would!

my  father was on kidney  dialisis for  may years

he said  in  england  at  55  they  cut  you  off  and let you  die

it  cost $24,000  per year  to keep  him  alive      
he  was a  surgen  himself  so  he was worth  keeping alive to  save  others

but  i think  some deregulation could  get that  cost  way down

the clinics  can  run  24/7
with the poor  going  in  on  nights and week ends

i have to laugh thinking of all the elderly that voted for obama.   boy would i love to see their faces when they realized this.  lol.    he is finished.  for people who dont like him, get the popcorn out and get ready to watch one hell of a show.   the boy is going down in political flames, soon his own will turn on him and he will turn on them, it is about to get bloody fast.

I dunno but that makes more sense than al lot of the BS we have had to suffer through since November!

in our system there isn't supposed to be any special people, we the people is supposed to mean just that. all of US are supposed to be the same which means treated the same in every respect. so let's all get to stepping and get them in line now.

Oh, the fun part is when they start out sourcing surgeries.  :o

Google 'Medical tourism' and you'll find that they want to pack people up in 747's to fly them to India for surgeries. Nice & cheap until you have complications and then try to find the doc to see what he did wrong.  :-\
