.What dies do you use with your .357 Max?
« on: July 23, 2009, 04:10:38 AM »
I use the current Lee .38 Special Carbide 3 piece set. Deprimes, sizes and expands fine. Bullet seating functionality seems like it could be better. I only get the die about 3 turns into the press due to length issues. And I feel like I can see the impression of the bullet base in the brass.

I use the Lee .357 mag with a .35 Rem seating plug.

Currently a Redding carbide 357 mag die set. Then before that a RCBS carbide set in 38 spl/357 mag.

No one currently makes die sets specifically for the Max, most dies are marked for use with all three .357s chamberings tho, but not all if you look at the list at Midway.....if you have long enough to wait for the page to load. ::)

I have the same Lee die set you have. I found the seating die lacking. I bought just the Hornady seating die - much better. The seating plug will depend on what bullet you are using, but the one that comes with the Hornady suits me. Good Luck and Good Shooting

I picked them up in a deal and prefer them to others. RCBS are excellent dies.

Was just curious CW, fingered you know if there was a problem with the rcbs dies.

Not that I am aware of. At least nothing inherit to RCBS. I just prefer the polish and overall finish of the Redding die.
