Spring mold sale?
« on: July 23, 2009, 04:22:59 AM »
Veral,
I've tried the email a couple of times and haven't heard back, so I thought I'd try here.  I know you're busy, but could you check to see if you still have:
# 22 .358 180 LBTK pb 2 cavity .4 nose
#46 .430 WFN gc 2 cav .4 nose

I need the .430 for a .44 Special.  I have one of your .430 LFN's ,300g, with my lead.  Do you know of anyone using this heavy a bullet in a 44 Special (Blackhawk)?
thanks

bagdadjoe,
I shoot an LBT 280 gn WFNPB from my Flattop 44 special conversion, 5 1/2 inch barrel.  It shoots great with a moderate load of H110 at about 1050 fps.  Never tried 300 grains however.

I don't see why it wouldn't shoot them, I just haven't found any data for loading.  I thought about taking the lightest load for the heaviest bullet recipe I could find and reducing it another 15% or so, but not sure if that is a prudent way to go about it.

I'm currently having problems with emails from the website coming through and will have a computer man check it out soon as he gets times.  Until it is fixed, please email be direct at   LBTisAccuracy@Imbris.net
If you'll email me requesting the current sale list, I'll email it and answer your personal questions that way.

I don't recommend 300 gr bullets for the 44 special, and though I have shot many 280 gr WFNs out of mine at 1000 fps from a Charter bulldog, 3 inch bbl, and 1150 fps from a 4 inch tube with the same load, I don't recommend that much weight either.  Best weight is 260 grains in my opinion.  Definately use 296 or H110 for your heaviest loads.  If you'll read my book it will explain how to get maximum power safely from any gun, using my primitive but very precise pressure comparison.
