Antenna Resonance
« on: July 23, 2009, 05:00:00 PM »
Bingo ; ozark :  It finally sunk in what you've been trying to tell me about this dipole antenna.   I just couldn't understand how reducing the length on both ends would benefit.

This is what it took to open my eyes.  ::)
Getting the antenna to be resonant on a freq I want at the middle of the band will help me tune towards both lower and higher freq.in the band.   I told you I'm thick headed.

So if all goes well, in the morning I'll be measuring, cutting, and testing.  Hopefully I'll be on the airwaves tomorrow. ;D

Thanks........and 73's 4B

dadgumit 4b!! you wrote that out better than i ever could have!! yes that is what needs to be done with that doublet for 40 mtrs. before you start pruning see how it tunes on the upper bands. with it being long on the upper bands it should tune ok with the autotuner in your rig. 135 ft. of wire with a balun at the rig end should tune 80 thru 10. hope i have been at least some help 4b. i have some family in the hospital right now. i just came in from there. i will check back in as much as i can. i am sure tired.73's to all

I'm on the Air !
cut my 40Meter wire to be resonant at 7.125Mhz and I can tune in all across the band.  Made my 1st contact on 7.17800Mhz with receiving a 40 from North Carolina who gave me a 41 and picked up a 54 from Ohio who came back with a 44.  YaHooo........ :D

Hey ozark:  didn't expect you'd be on here tonight.   Those hospital visits wear me out to.  I won't go unless absolutely have to.
I can get the 40 and 15 Meter bands but didn't trim enough to suit the 20meter though.  But I'm happy with what I've got right now.  That's where I want to start anyway.
