44. Mag reamed to 445 super mag on Sb1 frame?
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:57:32 PM »
I'm waiting on a 44 Mag mounted on a Sb1 to come back from Ilion, I've been reading about rechambering to 445 super mag. is this safe on a Sb1 or would this be not advised ?
                                                                   Thanks in advance, Tony

There's no SAAMI max pressure for the 445 Supermag, but AA's data shows loads to 43.3kcup which is about 3kcup over that of the 44mag. Since the SB1 is just cast iron, I wouldn't recommend hot loads, but if you didn't hotrod it, it should work fine.
