will a model 7 stock fit 600??
« on: July 24, 2009, 03:57:55 AM »
seems i remember reading somewhere that a stock for a model 7 with a little inletting will also fit the 600?  can't seem to find where i may have read this, if in fact i did.  the only options i can find for a stock for my 600 is either a replacement wood stock like the original, a cheap ram-line stock, or an expensive aluminum bedded H&S precision.  seems there are a lot more options for the model 7.

thanks for any help or input on this!

Short answer: Nope.

Longer answer: anything can be made to work if you have the right tools and knowledge but it would take some serious modification and the end result would be UGLY!

Greybeard is right.  The orginal short action carbine model 600 was the action for the orginal xp-100.  Much later they took the model 7 action and made the new model xp-100  and that action is appr 1" longer than the older model 600/xp-100 actions.

My 22-250AI is build on the xp-100r action so I could use the model 7 stock.  You might try and call some mcmillian see if they have a stock for the Rem 600 if they did might make you good deal on one.  Good luck
