I listened to Kay Bailey Hutchinson today on Houston Radio, and as accurately as I can paraphrase, she said the following.

1.  It is highly unlikely that we'll be able to stop a government takeover of the entire healthcare system, in its worst, most severe form (her thoughts as best I can repeat, not mine)

2.  The way that she predicts that it'll play out is the few remaining Senate hold outs will be bought with pork incentives.  As concession, the Senate bill will then be converted to a more reasonable approach of Healthcare reform and passed by the full Senate, BUT......................

3.  The House version will be passed virtually unaltered, in its most severe form

4.  When both Houses pass their respective versions, she predicts with utter certainty that the bills will go conference committee, where the legislation will be converted BACK to the House version, voted on with virtually no debate, then signed by the President.  Basically, it's a foregone conclusion.

5.  Her concluding remarks were, paraphrasing,  that votes count.  She said that we are entering a new version of America, and its pretty scary.  She eluded to a possible total economic meltdown if the entire democrat agenda becomes law.

The radio announcer/journalist reiterated everyones concern, and said that our only hope was to literally melt the congressional phonelines, email, paper mail, and certainly take to the streets expressing our opposition.  Interestingly, KBH agreed that this is our only hope.

After listening to her comments, I called the office.  Her phone rep (after billions of calls), said basically the same thing.  It didn't seem like they were throwing in the towel, but it does seem, at least to the Senator, that this might be an irresistable force.

The party, through various PACs and the RNC has both the money and the influence to raise a huge stink about this in the media if they are really opposed to it. It's not in irresistable force, it's people in office not resisting it.

Questor is right.  This is not a irresistable force and it can be stopped far enough along to be delayed for lengthy modification, which may just result in changes to medicare, medicaid and maternal and child health.  Many of the politicians are back-peddling on this HC reform or on specific aspects of it.  Obama is getting a lot of heat about the financing of this bill on top of the stimulus package and there is some pretty hefty dissention in the democraptic ranks.  The dems know there are going to be two things that will nearly end their reign forever if they screw up - one is gun control and the other is socialized medicine (healthcare reform focus).

The government has already bought itself into the banking industry and the auto industry - it is becoming the owner of the business sector and about the last large segment of business they need to control will be the healthcare industry.  Think about it - they own financing, transportation and healthcare.  Soon they may try to buy into the agriculture industry and try to control food production and distribution.  Now that would be real control for you, health, food, transportation, banking.  They almost don't need to worry about gun control - with those four business sectors under their control or strong influence, there will be enough situations where guns are used to further fuel their fires for total civil control.  I guess that's when the war starts.........

Mikey:

They're already into agriculture big-time. The USDA has a lot to say about what can and can't be sold. So that is already in place.

The "health care", i.e., medical, sector is also one of the nation's only big high tech industries. About 90% of all the cool stuff that gets developed in the way of medical advances originates in the US. The 90% isn't just a number I pulled out of the air. It's the truth. Constraining that industry would be one of the biggest and most far reaching mistakes ever made anywhere by anybody for any reason.

Gord Deemish! I can't stand all this politics any more. I'm going fishing, and then I'll shoot some skeet. Tomorrow, assuming further antidote is needed, I'll shoot some bullseye. I hate politics and politicians so much I could scream.

The simple fact of the matter is there is only two ways to end this and ultimately both are one and the same.

The states can continue down the path many are now taking in declaring their soviernty to the ultimate end of with drawning from the US should it become necessary. Or alternately the peoples of the various states can go into open rebellion against the federal government to the point of taking up arms and shooting feds who try to enforce this unconstitutional BS.

In the end both have the same result that being We the People are going to have to take up arms and remove by force the people currently running the federal government in all three branches. Of all the feds currently holding elective office I doubt there are more than a dozen or so worth keeping the rest need to be removed by force if necessary. Unless and until that is done either by the states or the people revolting against the feds we will continue to lose rights and be put deeper in debt to put more money into the pockets of the super rich who are now telling all the politicians what to do and when to do it. The Declaration of Independence needs to be dusted off and brought up to date and reissued this time to the federal government and if it means war then so be it. Anything short of one or the other courses of action means that my predictions that the US will soon be less free than communist Russian was or china is today will be proven correct.

I like her in the Senate but it appears she may be the next Texas Governor. She is a strong favorite. But, I wish she would stay on the federal level and keep her seat in Washington.

Think of it that way. As a Senator she is 1 of 100
As a Governor she is 1 of 50

A Texas Governor is weak compared to other state's governors, as is the Texas Supreme Court is just civil, not criminal. The Texas Legislature is boss. As a US Senator she has much, much, much, much more influence.

I think it has come down to an ultimatum.
We are gonna have one of 2 things, an armed uprising or socialism.
Frankly I do not think we will have an uprising.

Kay Bailey jumped on the bail out with Bush and McCain like a duck on a June bug. I hope she gets beat in the governor's race and retires to the farm.

All that I can say is that, if the socialist, utopian wing of the democrat party succeeds with scam and trade and healthcare "reform", it'll be tragically destructive of our economy.

I think, personally, that any healthcare system that puts all of its costs on a certain group of people will fail, and is immoral (namely, the people and companies that produce income will be strapped with its cost), rather that charging everybody something, no matter how small (severely disabled excluded, of course).

INcome redistribution ALWAYS results in wealth destruction.

I watched an interview of Alan Greenspan yesterday on MSNBC, and he was reflective on the power of free markets, saying that they have produced more wealth, dragged more people out of poverty, and created the highest standard of living in the history of mankind, while he says that socialism has done just the opposite.  I couldn't believe my ears.  He said that we have, in six months, basically destroyed the free market system.

What he said was a constant between the two systems is human nature, and the likelyhood of corruption.  At least in a capitalist system, there are checks and balances built into the system that are driven not by politicians and corruption, but by the laws of supply and demand.

Geeez and Greenspan was the Big Bawana of the Feds for how many years!?. He as one individual could have done a LOT to prevent what is going on now. IMO

I would venture to say, the economic mess we are in is no accident.  It has been deliberately orchestrated.

I am in Texas, and KBH has been a huge disappointment.
In the past, I have emailed her office, accusing her of being a traitor.
That is what I think of her.

Searched Youtube, MSNBC, and google, couldn't find it.  It doesn't surprise me that PMSNBC wouldn't post it, it doesn't serve their purpose.  If it's out their on Tivo, though, somebody will post it.
