Lehigh Savage Vent-Liners
« on: July 25, 2009, 02:22:07 AM »
Here are the vent-liners that i have been testing for the Savage breech plugs. They work great with Savage recommended powders. I will take some pics tonight for Edge to post how he mentioned before. The liners are $20.00 bucks for four and that includes shipping.

Direct replacement vent liner for the Savage MLII muzzleloader. The domed head and computer modeled internal design improve combusion efficiency and consistency resulting in reduced velocity variation and less ignition fouling. Vent liners are produced from a MIL-spec steel alloy and are vacuum heat treated to a proprietary multi-step process to extend life to greater than 150 shots when using factory recommended smokeless loads. The deep hex allows for easy removal without stripping.

BTW- The sight only takes Mastercard and Visa. It does not take American Express. One page says it does but it does not. Sorry for the inconvenience

Grouse,

Those look real nice! Can you measure the diameter of the head for me? I have a couple plugs that use a liner, but the head goes down inside the plug. These may work just fine in these plugs as well. Thanks for the information.

Busta,
.371 is the outside diameter of the head.

Busta,

Thanks, that is perfect. I have a .375" opening.

How is he coming on the Knight Disc plugs? I would like to order a few of those as well as these vent liners and some bullets all at the same time. I heard possibly August for the Knight plugs? Is the Knight Plug goint to have a liner? Give me a PM if I am asking too many questions.

The hot weather has pretty much put a damper on saboted bullet testing with magnum loads for me. I shot a few last night, but was blowing through the sabots after 10 shots. I just don't have the patience to watch barrels cool. :-\ I have done some sabotless shooting in my .45 that has went well. I think the Lehigh and Barnes bullets would have to be annealed to obturate into the rifling. I have had good luck with Hornady SST & XTP bullets. I just need more .451"/.452" bullets for further testing. I have tons of .400" & .429"/.430" bullets.

I have already done some testing with the flame channel on the Knight plug. It's already designed i'm just waiting for it. Medical supplies are put ahead of it. ;D The new plug wont have a liner, but a new primer holder that fits right in the bolt sorta like Knights but more weather proof.

BTW- All Lehigh stuff is free shipping. Really doesn't matter how much or how little you order. And a Sabotless bullet is in the works, just way down the list right now.

All good news! I was wondering if he would make some sabotless bullets, cupped base? I was hoping the Knight plug would be ready soon, I know shipping is included, not really free?? I won't be doing much saboted shooting now, this is the hot season here now. I would like to get that bolt adapter/beech plug for shooting some sabotless bullets though, I will be doing that through the hot season. I really can wait on the liners, they are for a sabot shooter.

Just let me know when the Knight plugs are ready. Is he taking pre-orders?
