Anybody know whats the holdup W/ Bushnell?
« on: December 19, 2002, 08:13:47 AM »
Because of the comments on this forum and because of their promotion I thought I would try a Bushnell 3200 elite handgun scope on my contender. I checked prices and found the best price at D&R, so I placed my order. I was told that the item was out of stock but might be in by the end of the week. Well that was about six weeks ago. When ever I call to check the status of the order I have been told maybe they will be in this Friday. That is untill I called today. Today I was told it would not be before the first of the year. Does anyone know what Bushnell's holdup is. I'm already going to miss out on the promotion rainjacket deal because the scope has to be purchased by December 31st to receive that.

BruceP,

Yes, I will tell you EXACTLY what the hold up is.

Remember that the longshoremen were on strike in California?  Well, that's your answer.  Bushnell scopes come from Japan, and the goods are shipped by sea, not by air (economic reasons).

I was looking for an Elite 4200 2.5x-10x-50mm ILLUMINATED with 30mm tube.  I was told that shipments should come in sometime AFTER January (and that was back in early November).

It's not Bushnell's fault.  (or even dnrsports fault for that matter.)

If you can, be patient.  Good things come to those who wait.  And you will LOVE the elite 3200 handgun scope.  I really love that constant eye relief.  Next handgun scope I get will be the same one you have on order. :P

Worry not Bruce. I just called my POC at Bushnell. She tells me yes they are way behind and have a LOT of back orders for that scope. They hope to have them in their hands in January 2003 but D&R may not see one for you until February. I asked her about the jacket promotion and she assured me it will continue on into next year. If you get your scope in February or maybe even March you'll stil qualify for the jacket promotion so just settle back and relax and worry not.

BTW while I was on the phone with her I asked her to send me a Trophy 2-6 Handgun scope for product testing since I've never done an official product test report on one. I also cleared the way for me to get several of their lower line scopes next year for product testing. Lots of folks ask me about them and I haven't any experience so can't comment intelligently on them. That will change next year. Not sure when I'll request them but will likely begin by early spring on the test of them.

Thanks Graybeard and Zachary for your answers. I did not even think about the strike that had held up shipments from that part of the world. Also I was not intending to blame D&R for the shortage I know that they have to get their products from the manufacture but I just dont like to be told maybe this week over and over for months at a time. I would rather be told exactly what you guys just told me; Sorry but Bushnell is behind and It will be a couple of months. Now that I know that I can sit back and not have to look for the brown suited Santa every time I hear a truck outside.

Also Graybeard I look forward to hear what you think of the 2x6 Trophy as I know I'll have to have more contender barrels in the future
