Good story!!! PLEASE pass it along
« on: July 25, 2009, 06:09:24 PM »
My cousin just sent me this and I thought some of you might enjoy it.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?

OR WHERE THIS IS?

THE
STATUE

This statue currently
stands outside the Iraqi palace,

Now home to the 4th Infantry
division

It will eventually be shipped home

And put in the Memorial museum in Fort Hood,Texas

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist
named Kalat, who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad.
Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country.
He melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers and their fallen warriors.
Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months.
To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms..

Do you know why we don't hear about this in the news?
Because it is heart warming  and praise worthy..

The media avoids It because it does not have the shock effect.
But we can do something about it.
We can pass this along to as many people as we can in honor of all our brave military who are making a difference.

And please pass this on!

LONGTOM. At first I thought it might be a statue of mohamed and his 9 year old bride. Kinda like he was kneeling and praying to satan, let tonight be the night I shall have way with my bride. POWDERMAN.  :D :D

From the Urban Legends piece:
Quote
According to a March 9, 2004 article in the Wall Street Journal, Kalat/Khalid, who lost an uncle in a U.S. rocket attack, is "harshly critical" of the United States and its actions in Iraq. He only accepted the project, which was conceived by officers of the 4th Infantry Division, because he was handsomely paid.

"I made the statues of Saddam — even though I didn't want to — because I needed money for my family and to finish my education," he told the Journal. "And I decided to make statues for the Americans for the exact same reasons."

I am begining to think that there isn't a true story out there anywhere to be found.

Well, now that is a good story. I'm a bit jaded from having seen a lot of "good stories" that really aren't. But this one is really cool.
