Time to dust off you bow....
« on: July 26, 2009, 06:27:43 AM »
Hunting season will be "next weekend"  quicker than you think.  I took my bow off of the hook the other day, and put up the backstop. No use waiting till the last minute.  Now I have a long time to consider, more arrows, different vanes, new cables....maybe a new bow.  Now what did I start??

Did the very same!!! Shot it at 20 yards, then 30 yards. It was grouping very nice!!!!

I have been shooting my handguns and rifles at the range lately. There is something very calming about shooting arrows at a target. Very quiet. You can hear the birds sing. Very different than the pistol range.

Rex,

You live down south. You can shoot for months. No worry about ice hangin from your bow string....your arrows....your nose....or if you have to go.....from any other part of you.  :P :-\ :'(

Man....I hate when that happens!!!

I am with Rex, I have been shooting for a little over 2 months now, I have a black bear hunt scheduled for the end of August, and when I get back from that, our deer bow season will already of started.

Redhawk1.....yer killin me here. But, it's good someone is keepin in tune. Actually, I can't go out in the heat when it gets above the mid-70's. I usually wait until the late evening or early morning to do any shooting at all.

2-Bear. Ouch. Is it your release hand or your bow holdin hand? I guess it doesn't matter....if you can't shoot, you can't shoot. Will you be healed up for the fall? Would be a bear if your not.

I'm sick. I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) It's a bitch of a disease. Heat is not my friend at all. The best way I can describe it is.....it would be like when you have a bad case of the flu, and the very first day you can stand up. Go outside on that very first day and stand in the direct sunlight on a 85 degree day. The sun is pounding on you and you feel like your going to melt. Well, that's kind of what it's like for me....only every day. When the temp gets to the mid 70's it's more tolerable.

When the temps get to the high of the upper 20's.....man.....it's like heaven!!!!  When it gets in the 80's or higher, I just don't go out.

It's just how it is.

Dave
you are to be commended, lots of folks would just sit down and do nothing.
You do what you have to, to do what you like. No one can do more than that.
Good luck this season. T his will be my first season with a bow, my son and
a buddy talked me in to this Elk hunt and i can't wait for sept 16th.

Thanks Rex. You would do the same if you were in my spot. You gotta live life to it's fullest. Good luck on your Elk quest. Huntin, finding, and shootin 'em is the fun part!! Then the work starts!!! But man....it's all worth it!

My bow needs  new string. That will be done next week or so. Then the target goes up. 6 or 8 shots a day after work. is definetly relaxing.
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

I love the hunt, when it is over i sometimes wish i hadn't shot so i could keep on hunting. Elk is my favorite so far, i rank it right up their with beef.
