Remind the Government of the 2nd Amendment:
Due to the current presidential stand on Gun Laws, USA Today is running a Quick Question on-line. IT simply asks, Does the 2nd Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms? It is frustrating to me that "we the people" are even asked to reiterate a known right that has been around for over 200 years!
This quick questionnaire gives you the right to make your opinion heard. It takes 5 seconds. It is still a live link. Our new Attorney General has already said this is one of his major issues.

This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month.

First - vote on this one. Second - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published. Vote in the USA Today poll - click on the link below. The Question is: Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?

I just got on and voted yes.
The results show over 3 million yes votes (97%) ;D
2% of people said no... maybe they should move to some other country. ;)

Over 3 million people voted, so one or two won't change the percent until it goes over a certain number of votes.

Let's send this poll to Sotomayor and see how she votes. ;)
I might be wrong but I bet there would be another vote in the "no" column. ::)

"Does the 2nd Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?" NO

The 2nd Amendment doesn't give us anything we did not already have. The right to bear arms pre-existed the Constitution, and is a natural law - i.e. something that exists whether or not legislation existed to give it. The 2nd Amendment simply declares that our government does not have the right to infringe on a right we already possessed.

Why is this distinction important? "USAToday reports 3 million gun owning voters agree with Sotomayor that the Constitution gives rights to individuals." She said while it is an individual right, it is not a fundamental right, which means the states can take it away if they want to, and the Supreme Court and the constitution cannot stop them.

You know how you trample on the Constitution? You learn it inside an out, then you subtly start introducing ideas and words into popular speech until everyone is using them because you know the average American doesn't know it well enough to recognize the twist.

you are absolutly right

and  soto beleived  it applies to the  feds  and states  my violate   our  civil rights

one of my  thoughts  is

why  we  boycot countries  like cuba
and  expect other countries  to not  violate  peoples civil  rights

but  this  right  is  not  inforced

in fact  sailors  leave  the right  to bear  arms on  our  shores

and ships are at the mercy  of  pirates

I guess it depends on what you mean by "hunting".   ;)
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Wow!! I missed that for a half second and had to go back to this page to make a coment. Our hunting rights are second in my opionion. They pointed out this right not because of hunting but because they thought some where down the road we may need to protect ourselves from our government. Without firearms that would be a tough job for sure. If they manage to take our guns away we will never be able to stand up and say I AM SICK OF IT AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!! :o Dale

All gun owners are going to be declared terrorist, rounded up and imprisoned anyway.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Well if you look at some of the work they do, in essence they are. The NRA has been a major factor in why we got handgun hunting passed here in Delaware.

You wouldn't believe the number of gun owners in this country that think you only need guns for hunting. I bet the sign the NRA put up on I-20 in Louisana was to lure these type of gun owners into joining. You know, the type that says what do you need that gun for? Heck that ain't a gun you use for huntin.
