replacing45-70 rear sight

I have a 45/70 handi I am in the process of giving a facelift to make it look more like my perception of a gun from lmiddle 1800s. I have shaved off the pistol grip to make a straight stock and replaced thje trigger guard with a brass Kentucky type guard. I would really like a diferent back sight. I found one in the Dixie Gun Works catalog that is a ramp adjustable open sight. Illustration looks like it may mount using a screw. The catalog says it fits several models of Winchester lever guns. Lists for something like $39.95. I like the looks of this sight. Would it be hard to mount on my Handi? I have looked about sights in the FAQs and don't find much for open sight users.

Cut a dovetail in the barrel and you'll have a bunch of choices from the factory BC carbine sight to many aftermarket sights.

Thanks. I was wondering if that might be a good option. I thought if I coyuld use one that would screw on where the factory one does I might save some labor.

See Metal Trigger Guard in the FAQs, there's a bunch for traditional percussion/flintlock firearms that can be made to work.

For the trigger guard, I used a cast brass one I ordered from Dixie. I cut off the KY mounting tabs and drilled and tapped the receiver for a machine screw and used a wood screw on the rear. Still have to finish polishing the guard. I am also inletting a a star/badge into the buttstock. I switched out stocks with an old H&R shotgun before I started all this, so it has a hard rubber butt plate with H&R on it. I will add pix when I am done.
