Does anyone pillar bed their forends and what works?

I had a buddy that was going to pillar bed my forearms. I decided to try free floating first.  I was assured I couldn't screw nothing up that he couldn't fix. Ended up with excellent results. I took the wood down to where I could slide a business card between all wood an metel. Used a couple cardboard washers between barrel an wood around screws. Between that an adding heavier hammer springs { I had just a hint of creep, this took it out } took my average shooter into a real shooter. Big difference!

I picked up all my info by doing tons of reading in here. { GBO } The search tab does wonders. I owe this site a big thank-you.

I've tried a little of just about everything from glass bedding to rubboer o-rings.  Currently most of my forends have been wood or plastic releaved so nothing touches anywhere and spaced at the screws with pieces of plastic 12ga shot shells.  Got about the same results(good) from all the above.
GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  ;)
