a russian heritage, long leg & straight tailed 300lb boar hunted with a 22... :o
i don't need no part of that, much less a caliber that starts with less than the #4
and below 1000 ft/lbs of energy

if he's standing still, or behind a fence is one thing...

shot placement is the ultimate thing.... if he's come'n at ya, like most seasoned
hawg hunters have witnessed. ya better have something that can take him down
no matter where you get lucky enough to hit him.

i've seen people hunt hogs with bulldogs & other dogs... and i've seen what them 6" razor tusks
can do to them.  the dogs go for the neck, wrong move on a tusked boar!!!

please understand, thats just my ---onion--- ;D others may vary...

we all have different tactics and use different equipment when hunting anything!!

thats why i use a tree and a large bore shoot'n iron ;)

spell'n corrected!!!!!! ;D
sea-ya.....
in tha meen time, i'm wait'n for tha  7th trumpet ta sound !!!

gotta big green tractor ana diesel truck, my idea of heaven's chasin whitetail bucks and asa country boy, you know i can survive............

hey boy, hit this mason jar one time...
burn ya lil'bit did'nt it. ya ever been snipe hunt'n ?  come on...

Boar = male hog

Bore = the hole down the middle of a firearm barrel

Dee, that's kind of funny.  You're friends have not found a hog that's bullet proof to a .22 lr, but you found a dog that was bullet proof to a 9mm and a .40

Go back and read the post again. You pulled something out of it that wasn't there. I went BACK to the 40 after the experience with the anemic 9mm round. Like the hog in th video beginning this thread, a frontal head shot is a bad idea unless it's all you have.

I agree with Dee, head shots are very high percentage shots. Not ever my first choice unless its all thats offered in a defensive situation.

BTW, a 12Ga slug dosen't bounce off either...  ;D

Exactly what did I "pull" out that wasn't there?

I love bullet proof hog stories. Their funny. We have had feral hogs for over well over 100 years here, and I, although am not 100 years old (60 instead) have never met one of these bullet proof hogs. In fact I have never met one that was 223 proof, 4570 proof, 3030 proof, or 357 mag proof. When I stalk hunt them, I sometimes us an M4 loaded with Blackhills blue box 52 grain match hollow points. By the way! I have a friend that has never met one that was 22lr proof

I once shot a cornered feral chow dog, 4 times with the renouned   9mm using duty issue hollow points in the head. They bounced off too, and I went back to a 40 cal.. He finally decided he didn't want to fight

cwlongshot, I love your signature quote... I had to look it up to see what the censored word was.

"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."

I haven't ever hunted hogs, but here in Florida, if I was a gonna hunt them, I'd be sure to have something with me that would put down a gator or a large python as well.   ;D

Thanks! When I added that in, I was kind of surprised it came up as a censored word... Maybe cause its Latin??

All it says is " To value/love peace, know war"  ???
