i  rearly  use  profanity  unless  it  is an accurate  description

never  minded  when  someone  cussed  infront  of  my children

what  is  the  purpose  of  being  bi-lingual
one  language  for  certain  people  --wife and  kids  and  preacher your  mother
another language  for  the  guys at  work

I told my wife about this thread and then asked her about some other phrases that her grand-dad used.  He used numbers like 50 million, as in "This tractor stalled 50 million times in the tobacco ground today!"  Then I remembered one of my wife's favorite expressions, "Bless Pat."  It is used the same way as "bless his heart".  "Bless Pat, if that isn't the dumbest man that ever lived!"  My girls' favorite "F" word is "frickin."  They use it as a substitute for the other one.

Cuss words are like icing on a cake. The cake is bland with out it.
but yes, there is a time and place for good cuss words.
The movie "The Christmas Story" has a classic example.

I'm with Williamlayton, if it needs saying make it good.

20 years in the military, I learned it good.

I also learned when to keep it in and not say things at the wrong times, or in front of the wrong people.

After my heart surgery, the nurses said I sure colored up the recovery room for a while.  I was coming out from under the anastesia and was not fully conscious, and cussing up a blue streak.  I don't remember a thing about it.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

  DAGNABBIT ! Why did you start this thread ? Years ago when I was first saved, I had some substitute words that I could use..even if I started with the wrong words.  Back then you may have heard me use terms such as "sugar" and "fudge"..

Thanks to a young lady I met a little over fifty years ago I am convinced that profanity is nothing more than a conversational crutch.  It serves a need for those that that otherwise have a limited vocabulary.

That’s my “dadbillberburn” opinion and I’m sticking to it! ::) 8) :D ;D

I guess I am a profane man. I enjoy a good cuss now and then.  When I am hurt or all heated up a good cuss takes the pressure down a notch. If someone is, acting like  or is resembling a body part, why not say so! A person don't know who there behaving after sometimes they need reminding, my wife does so quite a bit.  When I was a youth and collecting bills I learned all the different names a man or in some cases animal can be called and reviled by pretty regular.  I often wondered how I could get into those  positions described to me  or out of it for that matter.  I think a good cuss is informative in instances and I imagine you can let your feelings be known quite succinctly with one word.  So there can be brevity to a good cuss. Oh well just my thoughts.
Please be sure to check your gun at the door.  WHAT!
