Boat inspections?
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:07:07 AM »
Can anyone give me an idea of where to go to have a canoe inspected? I'm in district 4, in athens county. This canoe was a total rebuild with the numbers removed by some theives when they tried to take it to a scrap yard. Thye had hacked it in half and busted some holes in the bottom. The guy at the scrap yard got suspicous and the police were called. The son of the man that runs the scrap yard ended up with the canoe and I got it from him. I have put it back togather and need it inspected before I can use it for trapping season. Any help would be appreciated. Worm

You Might try one of the Marinas around .    Seneca lake or maybe Belpre or Marietta ?  Does Burroak Lake have a Marina?

Burr Oak does have a marina. I drew the beaver damage control on part of the lake a few years ago and the marina was on my half of the lake. Its a long drive from here, but isn't as far as cambridge. I'll look into seeing if they have a schedule of inspections there. Thanks for the information. Worm

Okay, please inform me on  this boat inspection stuff!  I came here from Alaska and Oregon and only had a courtesy inspection to make sure I had the required safety equipment.  I recently acquired a small sailboat which I need to clean up and re-rig, then I was planning on hauling it to Burr Oak or Strouds Run for initial launching.  Do I need to rethink this?

Thanks,

I think it will be based on the last time it was stickered., [ registered ] I would get in contact with one of the numbers above to keep from getting mislead.

I got new stickers when I got the title, so I assume that I'm good to go...

Worm...call the tiltle department at your county courthouse.  They should be able to tell you where to take it.  Posisbly your BMV office, too.  I think they do the stickers now.
