US unemployment rate hits 60%

Since we're all working until about the middle of May just to pay our annual taxes, we count this time as nonproductive. Add to that a 10% unemployment rate and you've got an effective unemployment rate of about 55 to 60 percent.

Pretty much all of my time is unproductive--unless you call kayaking, bike riding, fooling around on this computer and gererally piddling around, productive.  I call it retirement and I highly recommend it.

There is no secret to reducing the umemployment rate in this country.  Send all the illegals packing and there won't be enough actual Americans to fill the jobs.  Closer to the truth is that there wouldn't be enough Americans who would fill the jobs, but that's another problem that could easily be fixed with a little starvation.

To a point I agree with Magooch, however that is not always the case.  For instance,  I know a mason who worked for over 30 years laying brick and block, and making good money.  He had two men on his crew that he paid over $20.00 per hr. plug good benefits.  All was well.  Then the Mexicans came, and were willing to work for less than $10.00 hr.  He is now out of business. 

The Mexicans making that low wage don't buy new cars, build new houses, buy nice refrigerators, etc.   So everyone pays at least some price for cheap labor. 

Unless we want to live 4 families to a house and share a ratty old van we may all be headed for unemployment or worse.

Its not just the jobs Americans don't want that get taken.  The average wage for non-union construction has dropped dramatically in our area.  Plus, the illegals already get free health care.   You and I pay the bill.

What happen to the kids that used to knock on doors wanting to do any thing
for a few bucks
What happened to the guys that just need extra money for what ever
they are gone.
I still mow and do my own yard work, cause i can not find an American kid
that will.
I have Mex. guys that have big crews stop very often and start telling me their
prices, i always ask does every one on your crew speak American(english)
and are they citizens, when they schuffle their feet and say no, i say
come back when they do. Yea i have heard all the noise about how the Americans won't do it.

They send a large % back to Mexico so it isn't circulated but removed from our economy.

They use the ER for their Primary Care Physician. ER docs/staff/departments aren't cheap and this adds a double whammy to their cost to us. They will give a fictitious name and address so don't even bother sending out a bill. And their cost is tacked on our bills. We had an illegal that was dumped off in our ER and had to be admitted due to kidney failure. He stayed at our hospital for 7 months until the family came back to pick him up. He had dialysis 3 - 4 times per week depending on how his lab tests went. Don't even want to know the tab he ran up for that StayCation.

Indeed. I wouldn't mind another parttime job mowing lawns in the summer, just for the traveling cash. But someone illegal got a corner on the business.

Very good post. We discuss all of those things around here plus I tell people that illegals are here to commit crimes that we don't want to commit.

You know what, we all complain about illegals this and illegals that, but the truth of the matter is that American companies are hiring them and every department of motor vehicles in every state is giving them driver's license and I.D. cards without the proper paperwork.  Stop that and you stop illegals.

I guess the bigger question is, who should we really be pi$$ed @?  The DMV and the companies/individuals that hire illegals or the illegals themselves?
