Soon to get a Glock 17, how about shooting +p ammo in them, any draw backs or is it the usual defence round?

The Glock 17 will handle 9mm +P with ease. The Gold Dot 124 +P is a very popular loading.

Glock 17s will digest +P and +P+ longer than you can afford to buy the ammo...

Dirty-30, The Glock will handle them all for many years after your purchase that pistol, as long as you keep it clean. Pow-R-Ball has a load for a 9mm Luger caliber that has a velocity of 1400fps and kinetic energy of 483-lbs and that is a lot of energy, around 60ft pounds less than a .40 Smith & Wesson caliber at 535-lbs.
