Never vote for an INCUMBENT
« on: August 01, 2009, 09:18:03 AM »
The word "incumbent" is derived from the Latin verb incumbere, literally meaning "to lean or lie upon," with the present participle stem incumbent-, "leaning or lying upon."[1]

I think if we leave the (UPON) out of the definition, we come closer to the true meaning.

If we are to ever see a true change for the better in this land, we need to stop politics as a career!
"NEVER" vote for anyone holding that particular office.Keep new faces in office from city Gov. to the national level. Forget party politics....They are the same dog!
But if you feel you have to vote party lines, then by all means do, but just vote in a new face every election.
If that's not an option, then vote a third party candidate.........."Just my humble opinion" Yours may differ ;D
Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

NW, I see what you mean, but if there is an someone in office that is a true conservative and is doing everything they can to uphold the Constitution. I will vote to keep him in there for ever, as long as he is working for the people, and just not doing whatever he feels will get him reelected. The ones worthy of keeping in office are few and far between.

Ron Paul should distance himself from the republican party. He is really a libertarian. At least his ideas are.I dont trust either party,Bush was a liar and Obama is worse.Maybe its his arrogance. Both parties work for international bankers.Maybe if a third party was in power it would take a few years to corrupt them.
A lot of people think voting third party is a waste,I disagree.Look at jesse ventura. If you could get Ron Paul and jesse on a ticket,I really think they could win.I know its a long shot but I really think were screwed with either party.

I'm sure the Dumbycrats would endorse the idea of never voting for an incumbent--that is, they would love it if those who vote for Republican candidates would adopt that strategy.  Anyone who thinks the Dems are likely to do the same are living in a dream world.

Let's get real here; it isn't the incumbent Republicans that threaten our gun rights, it is the liberal left Dumbycrats that want us disarmed.  It isn't the incumbent Republicans (well maybe a couple of Rinos) that passed the outrageous pork bill (stimulus) and it isn't the incumbent Republicans that are trying to totally socialize our healthcare.

I think Ron Paul would even agree.
By the way! We have another Dr. Paul about ready to get involved in politics. He is the son of RP and a dentist from Ga (I believe).

I agree with not having career polititians & I like term limits, but everyone being only able to serve one term seems a little wierd to me. If someone does a great good then we can recognize that by his re-election, at least until term limited out. If someone does a crappy job, then get rid of them after the first term & this would draw a good contrast.

My mother had the right idea when one of the local sups. was running for re-election. She told him she wasant gonna vote for him because--if you havant stolen enough the first term, and screwed up enough things, why should I give you a chance to get more.

Constitutional change...

Eliminate the tax code.  12% tax on income from active working jobs.  No deductions, no loopholes, no refunds.

No service in an elected or appointed Federal office for more than 12 years cumulative.
Congress would meet for four months every other year.
They would get a living stipend and quarters to live in for that time.
Balanced budget by 2359 on Oct 31 or they would be sequested in the capitol building until a balanced budget is presented.  They would then be summarily fired and barred from elected office at any level for life.
No congressman could ever be elected president or vice president.
No president or vice-president could ever serve in congress.

No pension for congress.
No one with a net worth of >$1M could be elected.

Basically, take the profit incentive out of being a congressman.
Limit the time that congress meets.  They've had over two hundred years to make laws, just HOW many more friggin' laws do they need to make?

Get rid of long-term incumbents by statute.
