Just a few pics

Took a buddy from Hawaii out for the week to find him a black bear and some ducks.  Bottom line was one green-wing teal (I know, late migrator for certain) and a missed 129 yds shot at a standing black bear...oh, the humanity!!!!

Camp on the Kenai Peninsula up Palmer Creek Road.

Cold nights near Eureka, but a warm tent.

Duck pond near Eureka.

Yours truly warm and cozy in the tent while the wind howls and the snow blows.  Let's see...wood-burning stove, sleeping bag, 454, and whiskey...yep, we're stocked.

Fine looking camp, wish you'll could have been a bit more luck.  But it sure looks like the time was better than any day at work. LOL  :)
Best regards, be safe, and keep your powder dry!
Thanks Old Moss

Ol' Moss,
Give me a shout at work tomorrow if you're interested in talkin' black bears some more.  They're out now and we saw 3 yesterday afternoon...one of which was obviously approachable.

Matt in AK,

Sure would like to know more about that tent that you have.  Maybe where you got it and size etc.  How a web page on this also., and maybe a rough price.

Thanks,
peartree

The tent is an 8-man Kifaru tipi with their medium stove.  I owned a 4-man version and it just wasn't big enough.  Figure 4 folks in the 8-man, 2 in the 4-man if you want any gear inside.  My 8-man tipi/stove combo, with a few accessories and shipping, was almost exactly $1000.  It's expensive, but of good quality, lightweight, and extremely functional.
