Log Furniture Tenon Tools
« on: August 03, 2009, 09:48:24 AM »
I just got back from Colorado and while I was there I saw enough log furniture to make me want to build my own.  So I got looking at the tools used and realized I'm coming up a little bit short.

When looking at the tools I found that there just aren't many places out there that make these.  The few guys that are making these tools seem to be enjoying a nice huge profit margin because last night I couldn't even seem to find a cheapo knock-off tool for under $100 bucks.

I'm not one to cheap out on tools, but if I'm not going to be using it everyday I don't need the most professional & pricey tool either.

Check out this website.

Does anyone know where I can buy tools comparable to these?  Does anyone have any of these or any experience with them?

If you have the patience and skill, you can hand form those tenons!  If there are only a few to do, give it a try!

Ihave actually used a hole saw to make tenons. Cut into the end of log, then use circular saw to cut relief, the clamp down a belt sander to make cove. the first ones kinda tricky but when you get a system going, it goes pretty quick.
