For the last few years really only the cost of a license since I've not been hunting around here now for several years. I have made trips to OK for PDs the last couple years so I guess you could count that tho that's really not "hunting" but just shooting.

Lately, only about:

$25 license
$10 fuel for the atv as I hunt only 3-400 yards from my house
$40 ammo--most of these rounds are shot for practice at my thrown together range, I usually keep one box to hunt with.
I already plant corn for turkey feed, so I have enough deer corn to use as bait.
This year I am buying a new rifle for my neice, so my expenses are going up.  I guess I am spoiled because I have no club dues or range fees.

Well my sportsman License costs $35.00 for a 3 year License, my ammo is hard to breakdown to cost as I have been reloading for years and still have bullets and primers I bought in bulk years ago, I hunt here on my own property the largest cost is NO HUNTING OR TRASSPASING signs that have to be put up always now as keeping the TRASSASSERS off is a vary important part of owning land anymore, you just cant trust people to maintain your property as you ask, then corn for the various feeders.   And dont forget property TAXES wow thats getting out of hand as well.   Jim

I actually don't spend much.  I have a lifetime hunting license, so there are no license costs, unless I buy a doe tag, and that is $10.  I hunt 4 areas that are relatively close to home.  From 7 miles to 30 miles, so I don't travel far.  I buy guns, but not specifically for deer hunting, the ones I use, I have used since 1966 & 1976.  I reload, so ammo costs are not that great.

So, what I actually spend on deer hunting is probably much less than $100.

Now what I spend on my other hunting, and shooting pursuits is much greater, but doesn't approach what I spend on golfing a year.
The older I get...The better I was.

A very wise man!

I'm dumb so I'll share a little.  Most of my costs (non-hunting guns & reloading supplies) I count towards my target shooting account that just happens to help my hunting skills.

This year I bought a new coat from Cabelas ($240), a new Puma 44mag XP ($365 on gunbroker), and I also stocked up on reloading supplies in 44mag to last me years ($250).  Licenses may cost me up to another $100 this year max.  I also bought some of the "Stump Likker" deer attractant ($45 for a couple jugs) and that stuff is worth every penny!  Most of my hunting clothes are already bought and paid for so I don't count them towards this years costs.

If you were asking about how much I've spent on the total gear I have & how much I've spent over the years, then I wouldn't want to think about it.

I COULD probably kill as many deer as any other year with just buying a licence. But between buying new stands, camo, tags for two or three states, working up reloads for new rifles, scopes, etc, I wouldn't begin to want to know.

My wife says that eating beef tenderloin and lobster every night would be cheaper than that venison roast....But we know that we would never do that!

I almost hate to post this.

Lifetime license (old man) cost nothing anymore.
I can walk out my back door and shoot deer, rabbit, squirrels, etc. (really don't need a vehicle, less than 5 minute walk), =$0.
Do my own cleaning, butchering, procesing, etc. =$0

BUT, I spend all year shooting (300 yard range in my back yard), reloading, having fun, etc. Ain't it just a shame?
