Barrel changing?

Could I swap my 308 survivor barrel on to a handi rifle frame and vice versa?Got a nice trigger job on the handi in 243,thinking of selling it but would like to save the trigger for the 308 survivor.Thanks for yalls help.

Sure, but there's no guarantee that it will fit well, see the barrel fitting info in the FAQs so you know what to check, they aren't one size fits all, each barrel is fitted to the frame at the factory.

You could always swap the trigger assembly to the rifle you are going to keep.

That may or may not work. As with barrels, the relationship with the inter workings of the the Handi change from one gun to the next. While I believe a stock trigger assemble will work in most (if not all) other rifles, a trigger that has been worked on may not. I had a handi that I had worked on. I then tried to replace just the trigger/spring. It no longer would catch on the hammer. I ordered a spare hammer, just in case. As it turned out, I needed it. So now I was back to a regular trigger pull. I am not saying it will not work, but your carefully tuned trigger may be the same, may not be the same or may not work at all.

If it was me, I would work on the 308 survivor trigger and get it to where I like it. I then would not have to worry about if the barrel fit or the trigger assembly would work, but that is me - do as you wish. Good Luck and Good Shooting

LaOtto is 100% right on the trigger swap, the frames aren't one size fits all for pin placement just as they aren't for barrel swapping, I've had triggers and hammers that worked great in one frame that wouldn't work at all in another frame, you'd be real lucky to have parts swapped from one frame to another that worked the same as they did originally, the tolerance between frames just isn't that tight.

Humm.... Never thought of that..  The more I learn about our handis, the more I am amazed that they shoot so good, or shoot at all for that matter. :o

I guess fitting the barrel would be one option, or do a trigger job on the other reciever.

My - two cents - I only have one reciever - with a nice trigger.
      A second reciever would be worth the $ just to have one to send  off to the  H&R new barrel program - and still be shooting a handi ...
