when and hunted today was in stand # 3 at 300 pm did not see anything so at about 8 pm i decided to go to my number 1 stand ive noticed that when checking this in the morning before the feeder goes off that there is no corn so i figired i would sit in the stand until 10 or 11 i had a small latern flashlight and my nef 45-70 i heard owls and some Yotes but no pigs about 815 i heard a chopping noise and crunching and it sounded real close to me i thought it was hogs but did not know where they were at so i shined on the feeder and to my surprise a good boar was eating away at the corn i cocked my hammer back and attempted to get the light and gun on him at the same time, he started to run then i got the light back on him he froze and offered me an quarteing towards me shot at about 55 yards i squeezed the trigger alls i could see was fire smoke as i recovered from the recoil i shined the light in the direction of this beautiful black boar he had a white stripe on him with a long straight tail and a tuft of hair on the end of it he never kicked squealed or anything. this is pig # 2 with this gun as my friend gave me some good high quality reloads but i found this 300 gr laying in my truck so i wanted to try it out. i was shocked to see that this round completely penetrated him i shot him through both shoulders and it shot blood at least 10 feet from him could not find this bullet and his insides were completely jellied. my main function is to attempt to get rid of as many hogs as i can off this lease. my friend shot a sow 2 days ago from the same stand i am a firm beiver in this 45-70 as this is the first gun that completely p[entrates them and puts them down when shooting through the shoulders and believe me night hunting where i am at is a eery feeling walking out to retrive your truck but with my 45-70 in hand i have lost alot of that fear
