Well, if you're allowing barrel changes, an Encore.

If not, a Model 1 in whatevr cartridge I'm in love with this week.

Mine would be the Mossberg SSI-1 with a 223 243 and 30-06 Barrel, I have a couple and love them I have the sporter mod. They have nice wood well made with auto eject, Dont know why they never went over. I make most all the gun shows in Tulsa and have only seen 8 in the last 3 years bought 2 of them. Second choice is the TCR 87 ,wish I could find some more barrels for mine.

I would have to go with Ruger #1 in 45-70.  Which I only recently got but have wanted for a long time.  I have used a #1 in .270 since I was a kid and love the #1's.  The .270 will do for all the hunting I have done but not for the hunting I plan to do so have to step up to the 45-70 which will do all the hunting I do and all the hunting I plan to do.

My Ruger No. in 45-70, love 45-70s.  I received this rifle when I retired 21 years ago, another reason I chose it over my other SSs.

and now, a little something different....my first rifle, a Mauser trainer in full military dress in .22 caliber.  My dad got it in a trade for a tooth extraction or some such.  Gave it to me and my older brother.  My uncle came in from Texas and gave us a Winchester pump (1897 or so).  I later traded my bro his half of the Mauser for my half of the Winchester.  My Mauser looks like it did when we got it some 50 years ago....the Winchester is rusted up with neglect.  This rifle has the sliding rear sight just like the 8mm does and goes out to 200 meters.  With standard velocity ammo it is dead on from 25 to 200 meters.  If I can see it ....I can hit it, no scope, no laser, no bs.  This is the one I will have in my cold dead hand.  nuff said.
