Dakota Model 10 in .30-06

Yup, but I'd be hard pressed to choose between the 30-06 and 7x57.

If I could have only one single shot rifle, it would be my Ruger #1 in .308 Win.   My wife gave it to me our first Christmas together in 1968.  Wouldn't be without it.

Ruger #1 International in 243 would probably work for me for my remaining days.

Don't yet have a single shot, and have always loved the #1, and it would be my favorite if cash was not an option. Lately have been looking at the 45/70 H&R Buffalo Classic in 32" barrel.

Cooper's first choice... Sako's next, then Browning 1885's (since I've had multiples of all of them).

I'd be torn between my H&R Handi in .445 Super Magnum and my Handi .357 Maximum.

With the extra barrels I have I could hunt any and all the game in North America if not the world.

It would be... and "is"... my Ruger #1 International (aka "RSI") in 7x57 with the Kepplinger single set trigger.  It looks sooooooooooo good in it's full Mannlicher-style stock, 20-inch barrel and an overall length of just 36 inches.    :)

Oh my what a can or worms to open  :o

??? there are so many that I would love to have but cannot for various reasons but one that keeps cropping up is lack of funds  :'(.

I would dearly love to find a real nice condition Swinburn's patent Martini. Had one in 577/450 some years ago that I let go as I wanted one in original condition and this one had been re-finished  ::) likewise I had a Ruger No1B in 300 Win mag that I traded off. Oh just the thinking of which one is making my head hurt  :-[

HR1871 Buffalo Classic 45-70. I load it from 150 gr collar buttons for rabbits clear up to 550 gr hard cast flat noses for....well, I'm sure I'll find SOMETHING to shoot with them (anyone seen a T. Rex lately?).

I've had a few single shots. Some #1s and a few Handis, but my favorite by far is my 45-120 Sharps in my Handi.I love shooting it and reloading for it.The only way I would set it aside would be if Ruger made a factory #1-S in a 45-120.Its the only cartridge I'd want in a Single Shot.

45-70 Don't care what brand as long as it shot well. If you could only have 1 rifle you'ld probably be in a survival situation and I would want something versital. That way if need I could shoot 410 shot shells for small game.

.410 shoot out of a 45 LC, can't shoot em from a 45-70.

I think if you do a search you will find threads where people have done it.

My micrometer says the .410 shell would drop down into the chamber of my BC.  The 45-70 cartridge has a rim diameter of .608, the .410 has a rim of .512.  Looks like an invitation to not being able to get it back out of the chamber.

Maybe I misinterpreted the post or missed something I wonder if they might have been loading 45-70 cases with shot

I have seen posts where people have done that.  Think it throws an awful pattern.  For small game I prefer a collar button.

If I'm gonna pay for it the #1 RSI 7x57 was my choice.

If we are playing in a fantasy world then I'd opt fer sumthin a little more BBQ-E like the M&H takedown.
