  Thanks guys,

I like it a lot, and although i haven't shot it much....YET, i do plan to do some hunting with it in the future.  Then, "if" i decide to keep it long term, i'm going to make some changes to it...  We'll see..

Yes DM, I agree a beautiful rifle. How much does it weigh? Nice wood as well. I've noticed you like well figured wood stocks. I do too.

  Thanks Byron,

I figure i can't shoot my firearms 24/7/365, so i may as well have something nice to look at when i'm not shooting it...   :D

My DR weighs just over 7 pounds sans scope.  I like lighter guns, and i shoot them well, so it works out perfectly for me.

I've already got it... a pristine Ruger #1 International (aka "RSI") in 7x57mm with a Mannlacher-style stock... a classic rifle in a classic caliber with a Kepplinger Single-Set Trigger... one very beautiful little "package" with a 20-inch barrel and an overall length of just 36-inches.    ;D

It would be better Ron if you took that humongous scope off and put a petite little straight tube on there like the 1.5-5x20.

I choose my short Encore in 308 Winchester. It is not pretty as many rifles on this thread. It is very compact and carryable.

affordable in a mid-to-large caliber? a Ruger #1A in whatever caliber you enjoy!   :D   (me? 7x57, or 45/70 in a #1MS)

in a smaller frame, i like my Browning Low Wall 223 (why can't ruger make the #1 in 7/8 size???)

unaffordable? Dakota 10 (well, maybe someday...)

I have a great time with my very original (1873) Remington Rolling Block #1, re-barreled to 45-70.  And my Springfield Trapdoor Carbine.

If it's a new purchase, it would be Ruger #1 in .223 or Sharps in 45-120

Here are my choices of what I own:
-Harrington & Richardson 30-30 with 3-9x50
-Harrington & Richardson 22 Hornet with 3-9x50

Now if you give me a few years to purchase a dream:

Browning B78 Sporter in 30-06

Now if you want to talk about a one gun survivor situation, it would be the above listed 22 Hornet.

For the past 18 years I had a #3 in 30/40 Krag. However that is a littlechubby so 1885 in 260 came home with me. Then last year I purchased a G2 Contender with a 30/40 barrel from MGM. A light carry gun in 30/40 with an exposed hammer, that's what I want for looking around for deer..
