Convenience hamburger patties
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:58:29 AM »
I have always made hamburgers from scratch, but decided to try some of the preformed patties from the supermarket freezer case. It was just to have some easy convenience food on hand. After reading the labels I got some Husken (sp?) brand burgers with onions embedded in them. Less fat in those.

You know, they're pretty good. If they were restaurant burgers I'd say they were very good. They do have a "processed food" flavor, but it is slight. I may just keep a few on hand for days when I want an easy meal.

I just take them out of the individual plastic wrap and toss them on the grill.

About once a month I take out three pounds of ground Moose and two pounds of ground Caribou.  Mix in one packet of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix per pound of meat.  Mix it well, then press it into hamburger patties.  I'll put about 6 to 8 in the refer, and freeze the rest, in packets of five.  Very low in Colestrol and Fat.
When Skyman brings five or six of his Hockey buddies over I have to start all over.  They will fire up the grill and wipe out the entire supply.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Now that sounds like the makings of a great tasting burger.

I prefer home made myself but Bubba Burgers, the kind with onions, aren't bad for a quick meal.

During the summers I am on my own as far as cooking and cleaning.
This morning I stopped at Wally world and picked up some Sam's club burgers with roasted garlic. The garlic smells quite strong.
Even with the Sam's club burgers not being top quality like a locak meat shop would supply, I still rather cook myself than eat fast food
