cattle man vs blackhawk
« on: August 07, 2009, 11:09:12 AM »
I was shooting with a friend this week. I have a 1976 ruger blackhawk with a 4 5/8 barrel. My friend shoots a IJ Cattleman with a 7 1/2 barrel.  My reloads are stout for me.  255  gr. oregon trails SWC in RP CASES WITH 14 GR. hs7 powder with winchester LPP.  I get a grey haze on outside off cylinder and barrel after 12 rounds he wanted to try mine . I told him it was to hot he said he was going to. He got the same haze on his cylinder face and in barrel after 6 rounds. He found them to hot for him. (I CALL HIM WIMPY). He now says that it is lead. I say not burnt powder. WHO'S RIGHT????

Powder ash.  Don't drop any more of those loads in that Italian replica again.  It won't blow, but you're not doing its life expectancy any favors.  Good rule-factory level loads only if its builder's native tongue wasn't English.

Thanks I figured I was right. Don't think he will shoot anything more than cowboy loads in his pistol. He said that it was as bad as his 44 mag. in same maddle gun. I told him that when you shoot a mouse don't feed it dog food or it will GET VERY SICK!!!

PS THanks for the info
