outboard for scanoe, which motor?

looking at a 4hp evinrude. how much should a 10 yr old unit be worth? other opinions on evinrude, or other companies

I got one with the weedles drive on it. 1974 model , weight is 32lbs , runs five days on 6 gals. of gas. Still runs like a sewing machine. I put one water pump inpeller in it since new. If you decide on one , look for one with the neutral/forward shift on it. Mine dosnt have it so when you start it you are moving. A lot of weight on the side of a canoe. Mercury made a 2HP that is ideal. Had built in gastank and forward/neutral shift.

sorry , forgot, around minnesota when i see a 4hp evenrude.johnson , mostly in garage sales they go for 125.00$ - 350.00$. Still hard to come by.

You still see the smaller johnson/evinrude 3 1/2 hp with the tank on top.  Easy to carry, easy to portage, and perfect for a canoe.  I use one on my smallest duck boat.
