I bought one around Christmas time last year and absolutely love it.  I have shot it ALOT.  It shoots sabots and conical bullets very well, it has always shot under all conditions, it is easily cleaned, feels good, looks good, and the full plastic jackets make it very easy to load compared to my friends Encore.  I would not trade mine for any other muzzleloader on the market.  I usually shoot 120 grains of loose 777  powder with both saboted and lead bullets and have yet to have a bad group.  Probably by chance as much as anything else - my sabotted bullets (Cheap shots) and the bullets I poured (R.E.A.L) shoot the same point of impact out to 75 yards.  My friend shoots a Thompson Encore 50 cal. and he can only get decent groups (3 inch) with connical bullets if he reduces his powder charge down to 80 grains.  Mine groups 2 inches with 120 grains.  Some places where we hunt you cannot shoot sabots, pelletized powder or use a scope, so it was very important to have a gun that shot connical bullets well and had good sights on it.

Maybe I got an exceptional gun by accident, but I have complete confidence in it.  It is my first muzzleloader and I did alot of research before buying, I wanted a Thompson so bad back then...

Wind...I got a .45 back in March for my birthday before my economy went south.  Have only shot it a few times before I ran out of powder but got an MOA group the first time out with the bore sighting.  The few times I shot it, I was going "WOW".  Easily my best ML ever.  Got a job now and a can of powder is now high on my priorities.  Can't wait!

Knight made some great muzzleloaders.
They made the most accurate inlines ever made.

Too bad they went belly up.

ps. Only one bad thing, those stupid orange jackets for the primer.
Aim small don't miss.

3 Knights here, 2 originals & 1 'Extreme'. The plastic jackets are not a bother some people make them out to be. Just buy a pack or 2 to have a supply. I sometimes reuse them , just punch the old primer out with a tool & proper jacket support. My current load is 120 grains of Blackhorn 209 & a Hornady(T/C shockwave) 250 grn SST & CCI mag primer. The rest of the gun/breech plug is stock. I use the regular SST, I found the 'low drag' a little on the loose side. The trggers on the Knight are great for hunting just the way they are. I wouldn't trade my Knight for anything I've seen yet.

Be sure to clean it after shooting & leave a light coat of oil when stored. I may let it go a bit with B209, but not more than a few days.

Thanks for all the info. do you use the 250 shockwaves for deer and elk or just deer. The reason i ask isthat i'm looking for a bullet that will be good  for elk in the 250-300 grain range.

I just used the SST 250 grain for deer. Even with a good M-L setup, I'd try to get that range under 175 yrds.

I bought the original Disc about 10 years ago, used the 300gr Barnes MZ and 100grs of Goex FFF for a few years and then moved to the 250 Shockwaves for flatter trajectory when they came out...Funny thing, the dang gun loves the 250 Shockwaves and not the 300s, but in the Barnes it prefers the 300s over the 250s...

Now, we don't have elk on our farms and if I was to elk hunt, I'd take my .54 flinter, but dang if I can see anything taking one of those 300 Barnes and staying on their feet long...Back before Jim Shockey was on the T/C payroll he used a Knight and the 300 Barnes for about everything if memory serves me right...

If using the FPJ is a turn off, you can get a NFPJ conversion breech plug and use a bare 209 primer.  I have one in a Knight Disc Elite and it works really well.   I get very little blow back with mine,  so little that I do not have to worry about scope burn.

Grouse is working with Dave at Lehigh Bullets to create an even better (cleaner?) conversion for Disc Extreme/Elite rifles.
