scratch and scuff removel?
« on: August 11, 2009, 07:57:14 AM »
I was thinking in light sanding with 1500 wet and dry paper to clean and remove some scratches from the plastic cover on the honda.
I wonder is there any good coupounds that work on plastic to remove the 1500 scratch marks???

Why?  ??? You're just gonna put more right back on again aren't ya?  :o I've never even considered removing them from mine. Just seems a waste of time and effort knowing more will be added next ride.  ::)

You'll get over it.  We were all there once.  My kid used to wax our 300 Honda.  Now that its 18 years old, and the kid is in his 30's, a shot from the water hose is about all it gets for grooming.  Just use it, and treat it well.

for really light scratches and swirl marks i used to use dupont imperial hand glaze with a buffer on the vette i had. Works great but is a bit mild for the heavy scratches. I long ago learned not to worry about scratches in my atvs and even my truck. Just consider them character marks.

I'm with Greybeard on this on.  It's nearly impossible to get scrathes out of plastic.  The wax will fill the voids for awhile, but as soon as it gets wet or you take it out in bright sunlight a few times, the scratches reappear.  My advice is to just wash it and leave it alone.  If you are trying to sell it, I've always been suspicous of atvs that were waxed and had armor al  to the max.  It made me think they were hiding more more damage.

  +1, +2, +3...

If you bought the thing to ride as an ALL terrain vehicle and not just a golf cart why worry?  Kinda like washing your tires and then going for a ride in the dirt.  Just gonna reoccur.
