My Hawkeye .243 shoots good, but the new trigger is still a little heavy.  My accu-trigger Savage .243 was a couple hundred dollars cheaper, shoots good, and has a better trigger.

My stainless Hawkeye .30-06 is a sub-moa tack driver with its prefered loads.

Only mods were slapping a scope on it and shooting cheap Wallyworld ammo.

Don't have a Hawkeye, but Ruger triggers are pretty easy to work on and all my Rugers (M77, M77 MKII) are great shooters.

The 7mm-08 Hawkeye I own shoots better than I thought it would. Mine's a bone stock All-Weather model (stainless/synthetic). Here's an example:

I bought the wood in .308, more of an all round cartridge, Ruger says they are free floated and mine is but I can't get used to the bbl moving around and rubbing on the sides and bottom and bottom when I pick it up. So I put a business card at the tip, now it feels like a good solid rifle but I hope it doesn"t mess up the accuracy. Still haven"t got to shoot it yet.
