Choke constriction?
« on: August 12, 2009, 06:35:04 PM »
I picked up a Stoeger Condor #1. It has winchoke style chokes, 1st generation.
They don't seem to be Winchester brand. When I finally found a spanner wrench and got them out one has a single star on the body and the other has 3 stars.
The ID of the single star is .692
and the 3 star is .706
Is it safe to presume this is full and modified?
Plan is to scrounge up some more chokes but it would be nice to know what I have already.

Thanks,
Wayne

According to the Stoeger site their chokes are marked with "notches".  Perhaps yours is just a newer or older marking system.

Anyway, one notch is full, 2 is I.M., 3 is modified, 4 is I.C., and 5 is cylinder.  They are Winchoke style.

If you go to choketube.com you'll find a very handy choke tube interchange chart that lists most brands/models of shotguns and which chokes fit them.
