I read of a guy that had so much alimony to pay that he couldn't afford to live at even a run down place. So he sold as much as he could, bought a used car and used travel trailer. He "camped" in national forests free until a forest ranger said something about him being there too long, then he moved it. Sometimes he parked at truck stops and took showers there. He worked as some type of traveling salesman or traveled to do his work. He used a PO box for his mail or a relative. When he was in a national forest, he hunted and fished, lived off the land so to speak. So his only real expense was fuel, some canned and dry goods, and a few personal grooming items. Lived fairly cheap. Most of his money went to his ex and maybe child support. He said it can be done.
