Governor Doyle Signs Two Bills into Law

Thursday, August 13, 2009

MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today signed into law Senate Bills 112 and 167 at the State Capitol in Madison.

Senate Bill 167 creates a Hunting Mentorship Program and makes changes to restrictions on hunting and firearm possession.  The Hunting Mentorship Program allows people interested in experiencing hunting, including those age 10 and older, to hunt under the close supervision of a mentor in controlled conditions.  The law takes effect on September 1, 2009.

“Hunting is an important part of Wisconsin’s economy and culture, and I am proud the state is taking additional steps to welcome new hunters to safely experience this lifetime sport,” Governor Doyle said.

Governor Doyle thanked Senators Holperin and Wirch, and Representatives Hraychuck and Gunderson for their work on the bill.

Senate Bill 112 makes changes to allow more flexibility for hunters and trappers selling green skins, scents and lures, while helping the Department of Natural Resources identify illegal trappers.

Governor Doyle thanked Senators Holperin and Kedzie, and Representatives Hraychuck and Gunderson for their work on the bill.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm wondering what's happening with him. He even seems to be proud about signing it into law - like no one pressured him into it. I still don't trust him though. ;)

I know that. Whats your point. I am relating to Doyles poor performance as a politician in general. Save your sloganeering for some other thread.

Well that has been painfully obvious to us gun lovers here in Wisconsin before Doyle ever took office.

No 45-70, You are welcomed and encouraged to post in the Wisconsin forum any time. It's just that in these parts, the concealed carry laws are a pretty touchy subject. As you may already know, Wisconsin and Illinois are the only two states in the union that have no form of concealed carry, and we are quite pissed about that fact.

The thing is, we had it whooped here in Wisconsin a few years back. Concealed Carry passed the legislature and went to Gov. Boyle's desk, but he vetoed it. Flat out refused to sign it. Then to add injury to insult, he justified the veto claiming that, "This bill doesn’t create a single job, doesn't help a single Wisconsin citizen afford health care, and doesn't improve schools for a single Wisconsin child." He went on to say, "It’s time for the Legislature to get back to the serious work of solving problems that face Wisconsin families, instead of catering to the wishes of extremist special interest groups." Doyle also stated, "That is why earlier today I took my veto pen, and used it to stand with law enforcement to keep lethal weapons away from our schools, businesses, and communities." But he wasn't the only one to turn on us. He was backed by The Badger State Sheriff’s Association, The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association, The Wisconsin Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs Association, The Wisconsin District Attorneys Association, The Wisconsin County Police Association, The Association of State Prosecutors, and The Wisconsin Troopers’ Association, to name a few.

No concern whatsoever about our rights to protect ourselves or our families. Just a typical, narrow minded, liberal, gun grabber attitude. If it weren't for the fact that hunting brings in huge yearly revenue to Wisconsin, he'd probably outlaw that too. So like I mentioned in an earlier post: we know exactly how Doyle will throw us a bone concerning hunting issues, while at the same time having no concern about the 2nd Amendment or our gun rights.

well  that  was my  point

the second  amendment  ain't about  hunting
an  old  saying

just  because  he  voted  for  hunters  wants
doesn't  mean  he  cares  about  self  defence  or  freedom

he  threw  the  hunters  a bone
to  minamize  the  damage  done to  him by  his  veto
some one  else  will  take  that  bone  back  later
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs

45-70,

This Bill is good for our kids and for hunting in Wisconsin. It indeed has nothing to do with our 2nd Amendment rights. Now folks can get their kinder out hunting on public land two years earlier than anticipated. No doubt, it's just a bone, albeit a bone with a little meat on it and is at least useful for some of us.
