loading roundballs 45lc

Hello
I was wondering if anybody has had any experience handloading roundballs for thier pistols . I remember shooting with a friend years back and he had loaded his own shells using 2 round balls in a 45lc case. It was a great little fun round to play with . I am new to reloading but have reloaded for my vaquero for about a year now and have had good success . I havent been able to find any info on this particular/strange loading but thought this forum might be the way to go . Any info would be much appreciated . Thank You .

I load .451 cast round balls in 45 ACP. They shoot well in my Ruger 45 cal Blackhawk and my 45 auto pistol. These balls are cast of wheel weight alloy instead of pure lead with a lee mold so they come out slightly oversized measuring 0.452 - 0.453 in. Pure lead shrinks a little more than wheel weight alloy. They are lubricated with a coating of Lee Alox liquid bullet lube. The best seating die for this load is the RCBS 45ACP/45GAP roll crimp die. The standard 45 ACP taper crimp die did not work very well in securing the ball. A load of 4.0 gr of Bullseye powder produces a 4-5" group at 25 yards with these two standard sporting handguns. I am sure a similar load would work just as well with the 45 Colt. I like them. They are cheap, quick and easy to load and fun to shoot. Recoil is very low. These loaded rounds don't look very impressive but they make 45 cal holes in whatever you hit.

Yep,
The roundball loads would be legal so long as you seat the bullet so half is sticking out of the case mouth. They outlawed the preferred method of seating them down in the case just over the powder. Let's see...That would be a 148-grain Big Bore Mouse Phart!

While the double ball loads are fun, they would not be SASS legal.
But, you can realy play with someone mind,
"Watch how fast I can shoot 2!" Bang.

This got me thinking...
I got a .454 RB mould. Got some RB's also.
Maybe I oughta try this out with some trail boss. a fun load for my SAA's and M73!
How do you keep the ball seated on the powder?
