I don't know if this counts, because I never saw it but one moonless nite about 10 yrs ago I was duck hunting a marsh off of Lake Ontario, to get into the marsh I used a canoe to paddle down a waterway, but this particular nite it was pretty black out, couldn't see at all without a light, I loaded up my canoe with decoys and stuff, and proceeded down the channel, had about 1/2 mi. to go to my blind, and even on the water there was not enough light yet to see with out a flash light, well , anyways I'm paddling along slowly trying to see were I'am, I leave about 20' of rope trailing behind me attached to the canoe, in case I have a spill I can grab the rope to keep from loosing the canoe, well anyways I'm paddling along and I'm almost to my spot , when all of a sudden something grabs the rope thats trailing behind me and jerks me and the canoe backwards about 3', I hear a heck of a loud splash, and then there's a scream, which was me, when I looked back, from a distance I might add, there was nothing but bubbles were the splash was. I have no idea what grabbed the rope, perhaps a big snapping turtle, or something else, but it really jerked me and canoe backwards a good couple of feet, and scared the hxxx out of me.
